Hardy County is located in the state of West Virginia. The county was formed in October 17, 1786 and named after Samuel Hardy. The county seat is Moorefield. As of 2015, the county has a population of 13,852. The county has a total area of 584 square miles, 582 square miles of which is land, and 2.2 square miles is water. The county consists of 9 ZIP codes, with ZIP code 26836 recorded as the one with the largest population. Hardy County borders the following counties: Hampshire County, West Virginia to the north; Rockingham County, Virginia to the south; Frederick County, Virginia to the east; Grant County, West Virginia to the west; Pendleton County, West Virginia to the southwest, and; Shenandoah County, Virginia to the southeast.

The Clerk’s Office is also responsible for the preparing & tracking of the County Budget, Probating Estates, Payroll, paying bills and also conducting Elections and Voter Registration.
