Gilmer County is located in the state of West Virginia. The county was formed in February 3, 1845 and named after Thomas Walker Gilmer. The county seat is Glenville. As of 2015, the county has a population of 8,518. The county has a total area of 340 square miles, 339 square miles of which is land, and 1.6 square miles is water. The responsibilities of the County Clerk and staff are:
