Cabell County Clerk Information
The County Clerk’s office is responsible for the recordation and preservation of most documents relating to our citizens. Such as land records, birth, death and marriage records and wills…just to name a few. County Clerks also serve as the Chief Financial Officer, and is responsible for maintaining and processing all of the county’s financial records, including the budget, payroll and accounts payable. The County Clerk is the county’s Chief Election Officer. Therefore, conducting all Cabell County elections is another major responsibility of the County Clerk’s office.
A Certificate Application must be completed and photo identification provided in order to obtain any vital certificate. There is a $5.00 fee for each certificate requested. The office accept cash, money order or personal checks. Checks must be made out to Phyllis Smith, Cabell County Clerk. If requesting a certificate by mail, the applicant must send a completed Certificate Application, a copy of their photo identification and the required fee. The office process all requests the same day they are received.
