Wahkiakum County is located in the southwest region of Washington. Its county is Cathlamet. The county was created in 1854 out of Cowlitz County. It was named in honor of Chief Wahkiakum of the Chinook. The total area of the county is 287 square miles, making this the smallest county in the state. Based on the 2017 census, there are approximately 4,264 people in the county. The adjacent counties are Pacific County in the north and west, Lewis County in the northeast, Cowlitz County in the east, Columbia County (OR) in the southeast, and Clatsop County (OR) in the south. Wahkiakum County Officials Information
