Pierce County is located in the Coastal Region of Washington. Its county seat is Tacoma. The county was created in 1852 from a portion of Thurston County. It was named in honor of the 14th US President, Franklin Pierce. The county’s total area is 1,806 with an estimated population of 876,764 (2017), making this the second most populated county in the state. Copies of court records can be obtained from the office of the Clerk of the Superior Court. Requests for copies can be sent through the mail or submitted in person. The public can also obtain copies online through the LINX (Legal Information Network Exchange) as long as the documents were filed after January 1, 2002.
