Kittitas County can be found in the South Central region of Washington. The county seat is Ellensburg. The county was established in 1883 from a portion of Yakima County. Its name is a word from the Yakama Nation’s language though there is much debate on its actual meaning. The county’s total area is 2,333 square miles. Based on the 2017 census, there are around 46,205 people living in the county. Bordering the county in the north is Chelan County while Douglas County borders the northeast.
