Kitsap County can be found in the Coastal Region of Washington. The county seat is Port Orchard. The county was created in 1857 from portions of King County and Jefferson County. It was named in honor of Chief Kitsap of the Suquamish Tribe. The county’s total area is 566 square miles with an estimated population of 266,414 (2017). Kitsap County Officials Information

The County Clerk serves as the administrative and financial officer of the Superior Court. He/she is responsible for the safekeeping of all court records and exhibits as well as issuing writs, subpoenas, and warrants as a quasi-judicial officer. As a financial officer, the Clerk manages and maintains all the financial transactions of the Superior Court.

Anyone can access public records through the Office of the County Clerk. They can also view court documents and purchase them online through the ClerkePass website. In order to obtain a marriage license in Kitsap County, the applicants must apply together, in person, at the County Clerk’s office. Both parties must present their state-issued picture ID, military ID, or passport, and know their social security number
