Ferry County can be found in the Eastern region of Washington. The county seat is Republic. The county was founded in 1899 and named in honor of the first governor of Washington State, Elisha P. Ferry. Based on the 2017 census, there are approximately 7,594 people living in the 2,257-square mile area which makes this county the fourth least populated one in the state. The counties surrounding the area are Stevens County in the east, Lincoln County in the south, and Okanogan County in the west.
