Chelan County can be found in the north central region of Washington. The county seat is Wenatchee. The county was established in 1899 from parts of Okanogan and Kittitas Counties. It was named after the Chelan people, an Interior Salish people who speak the Wenatchi dialect, who got their name from the word Tsi-Laan which means “deep water.” According to the 2017 census, there are around 76,533 people living i the 2,994-square mile area. The bordering counties are Okanogan County in the northeast, Douglas County in the east, Kittitas County in the south, King County in the southwest, Snohomish County in the west, and Skagit County in the north. Chelan County Officials Information

The County Clerk serves as the administrative and financial officer of the Superior Court. His/her duties include collecting fines, statutory fees, and trust funds; maintaining a trust account for the funds collected; and disbursing them as directed by the court. The Clerk is also responsible for all court records and exhibits. As Ex-Officio Clerk of the Court, he or she must also create a record of all the proceedings in the court and make them available to the public. In addition, the Clerk is responsible for jury management, processing passport applications, and acting as court facilitator for unrepresented parties in family law issues.
