Asotin County is located in the Eastern region of Washington. Its county seat is also called Asotin. The county was formed in 1883 out of Garfield County. Its name comes from a Nez Perce word that means “eel creek.” According to the 2017 census, there are approximately 22,535 people living in this 641-square mile area. The county is bordered in the north by Whitman County, in the east by Nez Perce County, in the south by Wallowa County, and in the east by Garfield County. The zip codes are 99401, 99402, and 99403.
