Orleans County is located in the northern region of Vermont. The county seat is the city of Newport. The county was formed in 1792 from portions of Orange and Chittenden Counties. It was later organized in 1799. The county was named after Orleans, France. The total area of the county measures 721 square miles with an estimated population of 27,100 (2015).
