Sevier County Overview

Sevier County in Utah was created in 1865 and it is in the center of the state. The population, as of the 2010 census was 20,802. Richfield is both the county seat and the largest community. The name comes from the Sevier River, which lies to the west of the county. The county has a total area of 1,918 square miles, most of which is land; however, eight square miles is water. Adjacent counties are: Sanpete to the north, Emery to the east, Piute to the south, Wayne to the south, Millard to the west, and Beaver to the west. Sevier County is also home to portions of three nationally protected areas: Manti-La Sai National Forest, Fishlake National Forest, and Capitol Reef National Forest. The most populous zip code in use by the county is 84701 and it is one of 12 utilized.
