To obtain a certified copy of a Birth or Death Certificate, the record must belong to you or you must be one of the following: a legal representative, personal representative or agent, an immediate family member, or the registrant who has a direct and tangible interest in the record and who shall have a significant legal relationship to the person whose record is requested. The fee for a certified copy of a Birth Certificate is $23.00. The fee for a certified copy of a Death Certificate is $21.00 for the first copy and $4.00 for each additional copy. You must fill out the Application for Birth or Death Certificate in full. Send in the completed and notarized form, a copy of your Driver’s License for identification and the fee to the address printed on the application. If you do not have a Driver’s License, contact us for a list of alternative documents that can be used for identification.

District Clerk

The District Clerk’s Office is responsible for the filing of all domestic and civil suits. These include all felony criminal cases, divorce suits, civil lawsuits and delinquent tax suits. We issue all citations, notices, temporary restraining orders, warrants, and capias in these suits. We are responsible for all paperwork for the District Courts and the County-At-Law sitting as a domestic relations court. The District Clerk’s office is responsible for summonsing the Grand Jurors and the Petit Jurors.

A civil case information sheet must be completed and submitted when an original petition or application is filed to initiate a new civil, family law, probate, or mental health case or when a post-judgment petition for modification or motion for enforcement is filed in a family law case. The information should be the best available at the time of filing.
