Milam County is located in the state of Texas. The county was formed in 1837 and named after Benjamin Rush Milam. The county seat is Cameron. As of 2010, the county has a population of 24,757. The county has a total area of 1022 square miles, 1017 square miles of which is land, and 4.8 square miles is water. The county consists of 13 ZIP codes, with ZIP code 76567 recorded as the one with the largest population. Milam County borders the following counties: Falls County, Texas to the north; Lee County, Texas to the south; Robertson County, Texas to the northeast; Bell County, Texas to the northwest; Williamson County, Texas to the southwest, and; Burleson County, Texas to the southeast.

Milam County Clerk Information

The goal of the County Clerk’s Office is to make most efficient and reliable access to our records. The County Clerk is the Local Registrar for filing and recording all birth and death certificates in the county, Trust Fund Records, Official Bond Records, Military Discharge Records and other miscellaneous records. The County Clerk is responsible for legal instruments which include real and personal property, power of attorney filings, bonds, plats, marks and brands, assume names, deputation records, issuance of bail bond checks, beer and wine hearings, safekeeping of wills, probate, and Commissioners’ Court minutes.

District Clerk
The District Clerk is registrar, recorder and custodian of all documents involved in criminal, juvenile, civil, family, attorney general and tax cases in the district court. Additionally, the District Clerk’s office is responsible for docketing, indexing and recording, collecting fees, fines and court costs and managing all funds held in litigation; and performs such other duties as are imposed by statute or rule. The District Clerk performs duties from the time a case is filed through disposition, appeal and ancillary proceedings for many years after judgment. The District Clerk’s office provides court support for the District Court.

By Federal mandate the Milam District Clerk’s office has redirected child support payments and accounts to the Child Support Disbursement Unit (SDU) in San Antonio. All child support accounts are set up with the SDU by the District Clerk’s office using information that is furnished to our office.
