McLennan County is located in the state of Texas. Named after Neil McLennan, the county was formed in 1850 and its county seat is Waco. The county has a total population of 251,259, as of 2017, with its area spanning 1060 square miles (land area being 1037 square miles, while water area being 23 square miles). McLennan County Clerk Information

The county clerk is the custodian of all county records including deeds, deeds of trust, liens, hospital liens, cattle brands, certificates of release or discharge from active duty (DD 214), some birth and death records, and a variety of other important records both public and non-public. The county clerk also issues and maintains marriage licenses and records assumed name certificates.

An applicant for a birth or death certificate copy must meet the following criteria: The applicant must be the individual listed on the certificate, or an immediate family member such as a parent, child, brother, sister, spouse, grandparent, legal representative or a properly qualified person of the applicant, The applicant must complete a request form found below under Related Documents. Note, as of September 1, 2015, the applicant’s signature must be notarized if requesting by mail. The information required is the same for either a birth or death certificate and is as follows: Full Name on birth/death certificate, Date and place of birth/death, Father’s full name, Mother’s full name including maiden name, Name, address and phone number of the Requester, Relationship to person on birth/death record.
