Brooks County is located in the state of Texas. Named after James Brooks, the county was formed in 1911 and its county seat is Falfurrias. The county has a total population of 7,223, as of 2010, with its area spanning 944 square miles (land area being 943 square miles, while water area being 0.3 square miles). Brooks County borders the following counties: Jim Wells County, Texas to the north; Hidalgo County, Texas to the south; Kenedy County, Texas to the east; Jim Hogg County, Texas to the west; Kleberg County, Texas to the northeast; Duval County, Texas to the northwest, and; Starr County, Texas to the southwest.
