Angelina County, Texas Overview

Angelina County is a county located in the state of Texas. The county was formed in 1846. Named after a Hasinai woman who assisted early Spanish missionaries and was named Angelina by them, the county seat is Lufkin and it has a population of 86,771 as of 2010. The county has a total area of 865 square miles, with its land area encompassing 798 square miles, and its water area 67 square miles. The County Clerk is the county recorder. As county recorder, the County Clerk is responsible for

• issuing certified and non-assessing, collecting, and reporting the fees and cost

The County Clerk is also the records administrator for Commissioners Court and the County Courts at Law.

Angelina County Clerk

An application form must be filled so that a person can obtain a certified copy of either a birth or death certificate. The form for birth and death certificates requires the name that is on the record, date of birth/death, and name of the parents, as well as information of the requesting party. The fee for a certified Birth Certificate is $23.00 for each certificate. The fee for a certified Death Certificate is $21.00 for the first one and $4.00 for each additional certificate, for the same person. A Notarized Proof of Identification, as well as an Affidavit of Personal Knowledge, is also attached to the form to be filled up. The form is linked below.

Certified copies of marriage certificates can also be requested from the office with a form. It requires the names of the parties in the marriage certificate and the requestor’s contact information. Only marriage certificates purchased in the county can be given. Each copy is $7. The form can be downloaded below.
