Andrews County, Texas Overview

Andrews County is located in the state of Texas. The county was formed in 1910 and named after Richard Andrews, a soldier. The county seat is Andrews. As of 2010, the county has a population of 14,786. The county has a total area of 1501 square miles, 1501 square miles of which is land, and 0.4 square miles is water. The county consists of ZIP codes, with ZIP code 79714 recorded as the one with the largest population. Andrews County borders the following counties: Gaines County, Texas to the north; Ector County, Texas to the south; Martin County, Texas to the east; Lea County, New Mexico to the west; Winkler County, Texas to the southwest, and; Midland County, Texas to the southeast.

Andrews County Clerk Information

The County Clerk is responsible for recording and filing legal instruments i.e., deeds, liens, and releases. The office processes and records birth and death certificates and issues marriage licenses. The Clerk administrates the records of probate, civil, misdemeanor, criminal and juvenile cases.

The Official Public Records of the Andrews County Clerk’s Office are available online at the site linked below. You must register to use this site. Users of this site must register to conduct document searches. Registration is free. As a registered user you will be able to search the index and view summary information about documents.

The County Clerk’s Office is also accessible to the General Public for general information and research of records/cases kept in this office. Cost for copies of public records filed in the Clerk’s Office is $1.00 per page and $5.00 for certification per document.

An application form must be filled so that a person can obtain a certified copy of either a birth or death certificate. The form for birth and death certificates requires the name that is on the record, date of birth/death, and name of the parents, as well as information of the requesting party. The fee for a certified Birth Certificate is $23.00 for each certificate. The fee for a certified Death Certificate is $21.00 for the first one and $4.00 for each additional certificate, for the same person. The form is linked below.

Certified copies of marriage certificates can also be requested from the office with a form. It requires the names of the parties in the marriage certificate and the requestor’s contact information. Only marriage certificates purchased in the county can be given. A copy of a valid driver’s license, as well as a money order of $21 should be included in the request. In order to obtain a marriage license in Andrews County, the applicants must apply together, in person, at the County Clerk’s office. Both parties must present their state-issued picture ID, military ID, or passport, and know their social security number
