Ziebach County is located in the U.S. state of South Dakota. The county was formed in 1911 and named after Frank M. Ziebach, publisher and army major during the Indian Wars. The county seat is Dupree. According to the U.S. Census Bureau of 2016, the county has a population of approximately 2,801 people. Under supervision of the Chief Justice, who is the administrative head of the Unified Judicial System, the State Court Administrator is the non-judicial officer who implements the rules and policies of the Supreme Court as they apply to the operations and administration of the courts and is the liaison between the judicial branch and the other branches of state and local government.
To ensure efficient and responsive operation, the State Court Administrator’s Office provides centralized administrative assistance and support services to the entire Unified Judicial System, which is composed of 7 Judicial Circuits.
The Clerk of Court is responsible for filing and maintaining the following services: jury duty, criminal cases, civil cases, divorces, collections, child support, probate, small claims, mental health, protection orders, etc. In addition, the Clerk of Court attends each session of district court; maintains records of orders and judgments of the court; draws names of jurors, and keeps records of jurors and witnesses for trials.
