Sully County is located in the U.S. state of South Dakota. The county was formed in 1873 and named after Fort Sully, itself named after General Alfred Sully. The county seat is Onida. According to the U.S. Census Bureau of 2016, the county has a population of approximately 1,373 people. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 1,070 square miles, of which 1,007 square miles is land and 63 square miles is water. Sully County borders the following counties: Potter County to the north; Hyde County to the east; Hughes County to the south; Stanley County to the southwest; and Dewey County to the northwest. This office is a storage facility for a host of local documents that range from land title transfers to birth, marriage and death records. • Certified copy of any instrument of record, including certificate and official seal are $5.00 first pages and $1.00 each additional page.
• Uncertified copy can be obtained for $1.00 per page.
• Birth, death and marriage certificates can be obtained for $15.00.
• Filing and indexing a bill of sale, seed grain lien, or thresher’s lien are $30.00 first 50 pages and $2.00 each additional page.
• Oil, gas and mineral leases, and other documents relating to these areas are $30.00 first 50 pages and $2.00 each additional page.
• Military Discharges are available for free.
