Perry County Prothonotary and Clerk of Courts Information

The Prothonotary’s Office is a dual-function office that includes the Prothonotary and the Clerk of Courts. The Prothonotary handles Criminal, Civil and Juvenile actions. These actions are filed, docketed and indexed in this office. Civil Actions include trespass, assumpsit, equity, ejectment, mechanic’s liens, stipulation against liens, plus filing of secured transactions, insurance bond financial statements and notary registration.

Perry County Register and Recorder’s Office Information

The Recorder of Deeds is responsible for the preservation of land records in Perry County. The office records all documents relating to real estate property in the County. The Recorder is also responsible for the recording of military discharges. The Recorder acts as the agent for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania for the collection of realty transfer tax. The Register of Wills has jurisdiction over the probate of wills and granting of letters. The Register of Wills maintains the records on all estates probated for county residents. The Register is also the agent for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania for the collection of Inheritance Tax.
