The county was formed in 1813 and named after Lebanon, the Biblical term for “White Mountain”, which references the piety of the county’s Moravian founders. The county seat is Lebanon. Lebanon County Assessment Office Information
The Assessment Office identifies and assesses all properties in Lebanon County using fair and equitable standards. The property files include current owners of the recorded property, their mailing addresses and updated information on their property record cards. Records from the Recorder of Deeds, Register of Wills, Prothonotary and local Planning Offices are used to establish ownership and the boundaries of the land contained on the County GIS Tax Maps. The Assessment Office also maintains the tax rolls, processes and mails assessment change notices to the property owners and taxing authorities, ensuring that assessment totals are correct and synchronized with the taxing authorities. The Assessment Office is responsible for preparing and distributing the county, municipal, and school tax rolls on a semi-annual basis and the interim tax rolls.
