Wallowa County, Oregon Overview
Wallowa County is located in the northeastern tip of Oregon. The county seat is Enterprise. The county was established in 1887. Its name is believed to have come from the Nez Perce word for “winding water.” Based on the 2016 census, an estimated 6,946 people currently live in the 3,152-square mile area. The county is bordered in the north by Columbia, Garfield, and Asotin Counties (Washington), in the northeast by Nez Perce County (Idaho), in the east by Idaho County (Idaho), in the southeast by Adams County (Idaho), in the south by Baker County, in the west by Union County, and in the northwest by Umatilla County. Wallowa County Officials Information
The County Clerk is responsible for conducting elections in Wallowa County, maintaining voter registrations, keeping election statistics, issuing marriage licenses, recording domestic partnerships, and processing passport applications. In addition, the office handles the recording of legal documents, and maintaining the records of Commissioners Journals as well as the county’s public records. The County Clerk also serves as the Board of Property Tax Appeals’ clerk. The office is open Mondays through Fridays from 8:30am to 5pm.

The Assessor’s Office handles the appraisal and assessment of all properties in Wallowa County including residential, commercial, farm and forest, and manufactured structures.
