Klamath County, Oregon Overview

Klamath County can be located in the southwest region of Oregon. It was founded in 1882 and named in honor of the Klamath (Clamitte) Indians who had lived in the area for several thousands of years. The county seat is Klamath Falls. The county has a total area of 6,136 square miles with only 194 square miles of which are water. The current estimated population of the county is 66,443 based on the 2016 survey. The surrounding counties are Deschutes County in the north; Lake County in the east; Modoc County and Siskiyou County (California) in the south; and Jackson, Douglas, and Lane Counties in the west. The Klamath County Clerk is responsible for conducting elections in the county and the safekeeping of public records for the county including the Board of Commissioners’ documents. He or she also records land records and liens, processes Board of Property Tax Appeals, issues marriage licenses and domestic partnerships, and accepts passport applications. You can request for a copy of public records from the County Clerk. Payment must be made in advance. The cost of a copy involves a research fee which is the hourly staff rate + overhead (35%) should the staff be required to use more than 15 minutes in locating the record requested. Klamath Court Records Information

Court records of newer cases in Klamath County can be viewed using the kiosk computer located in the lobby of the Circuit Court. Documents of older cases can be viewed by requesting access from the customer service window at the court. You can also request for a copy of an audio recording of certain court proceedings. You will be required to provide the following information: the judge’s name, date, case name, case number, your address, and phone number. You will also be required to prepare the fee ($10) prior to receiving the certified duplicate copy.
