Curry County, Oregon Overview

Curry County can be found in the southwestern region of Oregon. Its county seat is Gold Beach. The county was created in 1855 and named in honor of a governor of Oregon Territory, George Law Curry. The county has 1,627 square miles of land and 361 square miles of water. The population is estimated to be 22,713 according to the 2016 census. Curry County is bordered by Coos County in the north, Douglas County in the northeast, Josephine County in the east, and Del Norte County of California in the south. The Curry County Clerk’s Office is responsible for the safekeeping of all public records of the county. These records include the records of the Board of Commissioners, deeds, liens, marriage licenses and certificates, domestic partnerships, military discharges, mining records, oaths, and taxing district budgets. The office is open Monday through Friday from 9am to 12pm and 1pm to 4pm.

The County Clerk’s office is comprised of two divisions. The Recording Division and the Elections Division. The first handles the recording of all public documents submitted to the Clerk’s Office, issues passports, and sits on the Board of Property Tax Appeals.

The Elections Division is responsible for conducting all elections in the county, maintains all records related to voting activities, distributes elections ballots, handles declaration of candicacy, and conducts voter registration.
