Clackamas County is located in the northwestern region of Oregon. Its county seat is Oregon City. The county was created in 1843 and named in honor of the Clackamas Indians, Native Americans who resided in the area. Clackamas is bordered in the north by Skamania County, Washington; Hood River County in the northeast; Wasco County in the southeast; Marion County in the south and southwest; and Washington County as well as Yamhill County in the northwest.

The population is estimated to be 408,062 according to the 2016 survey, making it the third-most populated county in the state. The Clerk’s Office is made up of several subsidiary departments which are responsible for processing all real property transactions, plats, Commissioner’s Journal documents, Board of Property Tax Appeal petitions, and orders for Clackamas County. Copies of public records such as budget documents for county, municipal corporations, and local governments must be submitted to the County Clerk. In addition, the Clerk also maintains a microfilm collection of all public records, ensuring that they are preserved and available to the general public.
Other services provided by the County Clerk include checking ballot measures, overseeing county elections, issuing passports and marriage licenses, and oversees Board of Property Tax Appeal hearings.

In addition, the office processes Property Value Appeals and provides information on deferrals, exemptions, and tax year summaries. Clackamas Court Records Information

Court records dated before December 2015 are stored in an off-site storage facility. If you wish to view an older court record, you will need to call the department at 503.655.8447 select option 6 at least three days before the date you need to view the file. Court records that were filed on or after December 4th, 2015 can be viewed on public viewing stations located in the Records Center (Room 12).

If you wish to get copies of court records, you can submit a request in person by visiting the Records Center located on the ground floor of the Courthouse. You can also submit a request via mail to the following address:

You will also be required to provide the following information: case name, case number, and list of documents you want copied. The cost for copies of court records are .25 ¢ per page. Certified copies cost $5 plus the cost of copy per page while exemplified copies have an additional $10 charge.
