Garfield County is a county located in the state of Oklahoma. The county was formed in 1893. Named after James A. Garfield, the county seat is Enid and it has a population of 62,267 as of 2013. The county has a total area of 1060 square miles, with its land area encompassing 1058 square miles, and its water area 1.6 square miles. The county consists of 22 ZIP codes, with ZIP code 73703 recorded as the one with the largest population. Moreover, Garfield County borders the following counties: Grant County, Oklahoma to the north; Kingfisher County, Oklahoma to the south; Noble County, Oklahoma to the east; Major County, Oklahoma to the west; Alfalfa County, Oklahoma to the northwest, and; Logan County, Oklahoma to the southeast.

Court Clerk

From territorial days, to the beginnings of their county and continuing today the Garfield County Court Clerk’s office is entrusted with maintaining the integrity of the records and disposition for all district court cases. The office maintains statistics regarding the filing and disposition of all cases. The large majority of records kept are open for public inspection. In the past eight years the Court Clerk has created and made available for searching on-line all of the marriage records for Garfield County.

Garfield County Court Clerk’s Office collects and accounts for all funds deposited in connection with court proceedings including filing fees, statutory fines, fees and forfeitures. A portion of deposits collected by the Clerk is the source of revenue for which the office and the Courts are budgeted to operate. Expenditures include: personnel for five (5) District, Associate, and Special Judges; jurors and witness fees; Public Defender salaries; transcript purchases; printing of forms and postage; utilities, courtroom maintenance, furniture, equipment and general supplies. The balance of monies collected is sent to the State Judicial Fund for operation of District Courts throughout the state. Other services provided by the Garfield County Court Clerk’s office include passport processing, marriage licenses, and licensing of private process servers and low point beer providers.

The Garfield County Court Clerk’s Office utilizes oscn.net as the site for case docket and image records. Most cases are public record and are available for viewing online EXCLUDING sealed records like juvenile, adoption, guardianship.
To search records in Garfield County District Court go to oscn.net and click on COURT RECORDS. Searches may be done based on case number or by party name. If you do not know the case number click on SEARCH OSCN DOCKETS and specify Garfield County or “All Oklahoma Courts” then enter a last and first name (the rest of the fields are not required to complete a search). Click “Go.”
Most case dockets are viewable and clicking entries that have the link “Document Available,” will allow you to view and print the documents. If there is not a link for a document or it says “Document Available the Court Clerk’s Office,” you will need to contact the Court Clerk for a copy. The documents may be viewable only at the Court Clerk’s Office because of sensitive material or for the protection of parties in the case.
Garfield County Court Clerk is continually working to put more of the archives onto the online system so they may be accessed.
Most civil, criminal, family domestic cases from the 1980’s forward are available on OSCN. Probate records are available back to 1940. All marriage records from Territorial days to the present are searchable online. The actual marriage licenses are not viewable. Though we have worked diligently to be thorough, some cases may not be available online. More specific, manual record searches can be conducted by the archive staff.
