Huron County, Ohio

Located almost at the northern border of Ohio and Lake Erie, Huron County is named in honor of the Huron Indians. It had approximately 59,626 people as of the 2010 census and comprises 495 square miles, 491 of which are land. It is bordered to the north by Erie County, the east by Lorain County, the southeast by Ashland County, the south by Richland County, the southwest by Crawford County, the west by Seneca County and the northwest by Sandusky County. The Huron County Clerk is responsible for court related documents within the county. These records include all court fees and fines as well as documents from civil, domestic and criminal cases. Alongside this, the office is also responsible for automobile titles, passports and authentication of documents as well as serving as a notary public. Documents are currently not available through the online system, however they can be requested directly from the office, during normal business hours.
The Register of Deeds is responsible for property related documents including mortgages, liens and deeds. They are also responsible for zoning documents, financing statements, bills of sale, military service discharges and corporation documents. Most of these records are also considered public record and can therefore be requested at any time.
