Located near the northern border of Ohio and Lake Erie, Geauga County is named for the Native American word for raccoon. It is comprised of 408 square miles, with 400 of those miles being land. The County Clerk is responsible for court documents as well as titles for vehicles, trailers, watercraft, APV’s and even manufactured homes. These different documents are taken care of in two different offices with one of them handling legal services and the other handling titles. Forms and some recorded documents are available online as is e-filing, however other requests must be made during normal business hours, in either the legal office or the title office.
The County Recorder is responsible for recording information related to property within the county. These documents are considered public record and may include mortgages and deeds. These documents can be requested via the online system and are also available by in person request, from the office of the Recorder.
