Franklin County, Ohio

Located near the center of Ohio, Franklin County encompasses the state capital and most populous city in Ohio, Columbus. Named after Benjamin Franklin, the county consists of 544 square miles, 532 of which are land. It also boasted 1,163,414 people as of the 2010 census, with more expected in the coming years. It is surrounded to the north by Delaware County, the southeast by Fairfield County, the east by Licking County, the west by Madison County, the south by Pickaway County and the northwest by Union County. The County Clerk is responsible for records related to the court as well as notary commissions and passport applications. They’re also responsible for title documents, administering oaths and even naturalization records. While these records are not currently available through the online system they are available by in person request, directly from the County Clerk’s office. Most of these documents are considered public record as well, which means that they can be requested at any time,
The Register of Deeds is responsible for registering documents related to property, which in Franklin County includes titles and property records. The basic property records can be searched online, however other records must be requested directly from the office of the County Recorder, who serves also as the Register of Deeds.

The Assessment Office is responsible for taxable valuations related to real and personal property.
