Located on the western border of Ohio, Defiance County is actually named after Fort Defiance, an army fortification named by Mad Anthony Wayne. It’s 414 square miles in total area with a total of 411 of that being land. It’s also surrounded entirely by Williams County to the north, Henry County to the east, Putnam County to the southeast, Paulding County to the south, Allen County Indian to the southwest and DeKalb County, Indian to the west. With approximately 39,037 people as of the 2010 census this county has 14 zip codes, the most populous of which are 43512 and 43526, with 86% of the population.
