Belmont County, Ohio

Located on the eastern border of Ohio, Belmont County is comprised of 541 square miles, with 532 of those being land. As of the 2010 census it had approximately 70,400 people and is currently surrounded to the north by Harrison County, the northeast by Jefferson County, the east by Ohio County, West Virginia, the southeast by Marshall County, West Virginia, the south by Monroe County, the southwest by Noble County and the west by Guernsey County. Belmont County Officials Information

There are no County Clerks in the state of Ohio; however the County Recorder takes over many of the duties associated with this and the Register of Deeds. Other documents, including birth and death records and personal protection orders, are handled by various government entities.
The County Recorder is responsible for filing and maintenance as well as collecting fees related to property documents within the county.

In order to obtain a marriage license in Belmont County, the applicants must apply together, in person, at the County Clerk’s office. Both parties must present their state-issued picture ID, military ID, or passport, and know their social security number
