It is surrounded by Highland County to the north, Pike County to the northeast, Scioto County to the east, Lewis County, Kentucky to the south, Mason County, Kentucky to the southwest and Brown County to the west. The Recorder is responsible for all property related documents, which include deeds, mortgages and liens. This individual is also responsible for military discharges and other public records. Because these documents are public record they are available to the general public upon request. These documents can be requested during normal business hours, directly from the County Recorder, but they are not currently available online. All documents do have fees and costs associated.

The Adams County Auditor is responsible for information related to taxes for the county. These documents also include tax maps and GIS surveys and information.
