Vance County, North Carolina Overview
Vance County is located in the north central region of North Carolina. Its county seat is Henderson. The county was created in 1881 from parts of Granville, Franklin, and Warren Counties. It was named in honor of a former Governor of North Carolina and then US Senator, Zebulon Baird Vance. The total area of the county is 270 square miles with a population of 45,422 according to the 2010 census. The bordering counties are Mecklenburg County (VA) in the north, Warren County in the east, Franklin County in the south, and Granville County in the west.
