Mecklenburg County Officials Information

The Register of Deeds is responsible for the recording, indexing, and preservation of all real estate and business related documents submitted for registration in Martin County. In addition, the office handles the issuance of marriage licenses, the giving of oath to notaries, the recording of military discharges, and provides certified copies of recorded documents.

Anyone can search the online databases of public records kept by the Register of Deeds office. Certified copies of Real Estate Instruments cost $5 for the first page and $2 for each additional page. In order to obtain a marriage license in Mecklenburg County, the applicants must apply together, in person, at the County Clerk’s office. Both parties must present their state-issued picture ID, military ID, or passport, and know their social security number
