Graham County, North Carolina Overview
Graham County is located in the southwestern region of North Carolina. The county seat is Robbinsville. Graham County was created in 1872 from a portion of Cherokee County and named in honor of a former Governor of North Carolina, William A. Graham. According to the 2010 census, there are 8,861 people living in the county’s 302-square mile area, making this the third least populated county in the state. Graham County is bordered by Swain County in the north and northeast, Macon County in the southeast, Cherokee County in the south, and Monroe County (TN) in the west. Access to the public records in the Register of Deeds office is available from 8:30am to 5pm, Monday through Friday, except on legal holidays. The public can also do a search on property records online. Certified copies of birth, death, or marriage certificates are available for $10 each. Uncertified copies cost $0.25 per page but must be requested in person.
