Duplin County can be found in the southeast region of North Carolina. Its county seat is Kenansville. The county was established in 1750 from a part of New Hanover County and named in honor of Viscount Dupplin, Thomas Hay. The county’s total area is 822 square miles with a population of 58,505 (2010). Duplin County is bordered in the north by Wayne County, in the northeast by Lenoir County, in the east by Jones County, in the southeast by Onslow County, in the south by Pender County, and in the west by Sampson County.
