Davie County is located in the northwest region of North Carolina. Mocksville is the county seat. The county was created in 1836 from a portion of Rowan County and named in honor of the Governor of North Carolina from 1798 to 1799, William R. Davie. The total area of the county is 267 square miles and the population is 41,240 (2010). The counties surrounding the area are Yadkin County in the north, Forsyth County in the northeast, Davidson County in the east, Rowan County in the south, and Iredell County in the west.
