Camden County is located in the northeast region of North Carolina. Its county seat is Camden. The county was created in 1777 from a portion of Pasquotank County and named in honor of the 1st Lord Camden, Charles Pratt. The total area of the county is 310 square miles. Based on the 2010 census, there are 9,980 people living in the area, making this the 4th least populated county in the state. Camden County is bordered in the north by the City of Chesapeake County (VA0, in the east by Currituck County, in the south by Tyrell County, in the west by Pasquotank County, and in the northwest by Gates County.
