Alamance County, North Carolina

Alamance County is located in the state of North Carolina. The county was formed on January 29, 1849, from Orange County; the name of the county comes from a Native American word to describe the mud in Great Alamance Creek. Burlington is the largest city in the county, while Graham is the county seat. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a population of approximately 151,131 people and a total area of 435 square miles, of which 11 square miles is water and 424 square miles is land. Alamance County borders the following counties: Caswell County to the north, Orange County to the east, Rockingham County to the northwest, Chatham County to the south, Randolph County to the southwest, and Guilford County to the west.

As of 2015, Hugh Webster is the current Alamance County Register of Deeds.
