Otsego County, New York
Otsego County is located in the state of New York. The county was officially established on February 16, 1791. The name Otsego is from a Mohawk or Oneida word meaning “place of the rock”. Oneonta is the largest city in the county, while Cooperstown is the county seat. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a population of approximately 62,259 people and a total area of 1,016 square miles, of which 14 square miles is water and 1,002 square miles is land. Otsego County borders the following counties: Herkimer County to the north, Montgomery County to the northeast, Schoharie County to the east, Delaware County to the south, Chenango County to the southwest, Oneida County to the northwest, and Madison County to the northwest.
