Passaic County Clerk’s Office Information
The Passaic County Clerk’s Office is comprised of the County Clerk Division, which includes the Election Division and Registry of Deeds Division. The County Clerk is responsible for recording and maintaining records of real property such as deeds, mortgages, liens, maps and other related legal documents. The Clerk’s Office also acts as the passport application acceptance facility for the U.S. Department of State. This office also issues ID cards to Morris County seniors and veterans, record the military discharge records of veterans, and administers oath of office to all Notaries. In addition, this office administers several important election functions including the preparation and mailing of ballots, accepting nominating petitions, designing and preparing voting machine ballot layouts, tallying election results, etc. The County Clerk also officiates marriage ceremonies.
