Sioux County can be found in Western Nebraska with its county seat, Harrison. The county was created in 1877 and named in honor of the Sioux people. According to the 2010 census, the total area of the county is 2,067 square miles and the population is 1,311. The county is bordered in the north by Fall River County (SD), in the northeast by Dawes County, in the southeast by Box Butte County, in the south by Scotts Bluff County, in the southwest by Goshen County (WY), and in the northwest by Niobrara County (WY).
