Keith County, Nebraska Overview
Keith County is located in South Central Nebraska. Its county seat is Ogallala. The county was created in 1873. The origin of its name is still unconfirmed. It is believed to have been named in honor of either the grandson of Keith Neville who the 18th governor of Nebraska, M.C. Keith of North Platte, or John Keith who also belonged to the same community. The 2010 census measures the total area of the county as 1,110 square miles and the population at 8,368. The counties bordering the area are Arthur County in the north, McPherson County in the northeast, Lincoln County in the east, Perkins County in the south, Deuel County in the west, and Garden County in the northwest.
