Garden County can be found in Western Nebraska and its county seat is Oshkosh. The county was founded in 1909 from a portion of Deuel County. The county was named with the idea that it will hopefully become the garden of the West, alluding to the “Garden of Eden.” According to the 2010 census, the county has a total area of 1,731 and 2,057 residents. The county is bordered in the north by Sheridan County, in the northeast by Grant County, in the east by Arthur County, in the southeast by Keith County, in the south by Deuel County, in the southwest by Cheyenne County, and in the west by Morrill County. The County Clerk is tasked with attending all meetings and recording proceedings of the County Board Supervisors as well as the County Board of Equalization.
