Petroleum County is located in the U.S. state of Montana. The county was formed in 1926 and named after The production of petroleum at Cat Creek. The county seat is Winnett. According to the U.S. Census Bureau of 2015, the county has a population of approximately 475 people. The primary Clerk and Recorder is to maintain various records related to property and other types of documents.
