Big Horn County is located in the U.S. state of Montana. The county was formed in 1913 and named after Bighorn sheep in the area. The county seat is Hardin. The clerk and recorder is the ex-officio recorder, registrar, and ex-officio clerk of the county commissioners of Big Horn County. Additionally, the clerk and recorder is also the ex-officio election administrator as well as the administrator of the county budget. The documents that are filed and recorded are: deeds, mortgages, powers of attorney, military discharges, oil and gas leases, liens, certificates of surveys and subdivision plats.
