Grundy County is located in the U.S. state of Missouri. The county was formed in 1839 and named after Felix Grundy, a U.S. Congressman and U.S. Senator from Tennessee who also served as the 13th Attorney General of the United States. The county seat is Trenton. According to the U.S. Census Bureau of 2013, the county has a population of approximately 10,355 people. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 438 square miles of which 435 square miles is land and 2.8 square miles is water. Grundy County borders the following counties: Mercer County to the north; Sullivan County to the east; Linn County to the southeast; Livingston County to the south; Daviess County to the southwest and Harrison County to the northwest. Grundy County Recorder of Deeds Office Information

The primary duties of the Recorder of Deeds as follows:

  • Recording of documents pertaining to real estate
  • Federal and state liens
  • Servicemen’s records
  • Issuing of marriage license

The Recorder of Deeds also records other kinds of documents if they’re compliant with state statutes. The records in the office date back to 1841. All the recorded documents are public and copies are available by paying a fee. Plain copies are $0.25 and a certified copy is $9.00. A certified copy is required for name changes. Military discharges are recorded at no cost; however, the original DD-214 must be presented.
