Cape Girardeau County is located in the U.S. state of Missouri. The county was formed in 1812 and named after Ensign Sieur Jean Baptiste de Giradot, an official of the French colonial years. Cape Girardeau County Recorder of Deeds Office Information

The Recorder of Deeds is responsible for the following:

  • Recording all records pertaining to land transactions, such as warranty deeds, deeds of trust, releases, plats, surveys, judgments, and tax liens.
  • Issuing and recording all marriage licenses and provide copies of the licenses.
  • Filing Military discharge records.
  • Collecting over $400,000 in revenue and budgeting expenses for the office. The office collects fees and disperses them monthly to various funds in the county and the state.
