Caldwell County is located in the U.S. state of Missouri. The county was formed in 1836 and named after John Caldwell, an Indian scout, and friend of respected Colonel Alexander William Doniphan; John Caldwell, Lieutenant Governor of Kentucky; or Mathew Caldwell, a signer of the Texas Declaration of Independence. The county seat is Kingston. According to the U.S. Census Bureau of 2013, the county has a population of approximately 9,097 people. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 430 square miles of which 426 square miles is land and 3.2 square miles is water. Caldwell County borders the following counties: Daviess County to the north; Livingston County to the east; Carroll County to the southeast; Ray County to the south; Clinton County to the west and DeKalb County to the northwest.Caldwell County has nine zip codes.
